West Coast Network Services, part of the West Coast Energy Group
of companies, has opened a new depot in Moorgreen, Nottinghamshire
creating 50 new jobs in the East Midlands area. In addition, West
Coast Network Services has also expanded both its Stoke and
Cheshire offices, creating a further 20 jobs.
This positive move comes as a result of recent contracts won by
the company, including a new five-year contract for Central
Networks (part of E.ON), the electricity distribution company for
Central England. The new contract will see West Coast Network
Services assume responsibility for the vegetation management around
the overhead line network throughout Shropshire, Staffordshire,
Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
The roles produced will be predominantly Arborists and
Groundsmen, and West Coast Network Services will also be looking to
recruit administrative support staff, supervisors, health and
safety and operational managers.
With the forecast increases in climate change and the
possibility of greater storm frequencies, West Coast Network
Services have been working closely with Central Networks over the
past four years to ensure trees do not strike overhead power lines
and cause interruptions in customer supplies.
The opening of the new depot and creation of further jobs
coincides as West Coast Network Services' moves into a new
purpose-built headquarter in Mold, Flintshire. As befits a company
in the business of making renewable energy a reality, the new
headquarters has been designed with the environment very much front
of mind, using a number of sustainable methods and materials.
