West Coast Network Services understands the benefits that appropriate mechanisation can bring to the delivery of a programme of works. Our experience on a wide range of contracts has enabled us to develop and embed the required skills and create equipment resources necessary for the delivery of an optimum blend of mechanised and manual work.
We have demonstrated our capability, within the electrical supply industry, of operating mechanised cutting on both live and shut-down sites. This expertise and experience translate directly into increased productivity with fewer staff being required to deliver high quality within client budgets. This is very important in a resource-constrained industry. This leaner, more efficient staff model means that response times and the general mobility of our operatives are enhanced. In turn this leads to less disruption to the general public, as works are completed more efficiently.
Where mechanisation can be employed, a machine and operator can complete the equivalent work of a six man team. Dependent on the number of appropriate sites, a significant amount of resource can made available to complete works, at the same time as delivering cost savings.
Used properly, mechanisation greatly reduces the health and safety risks associated with manual cutting of hedges and standing vegetation. In particular there is a marked reduction in thorn injuries. It also reduces significantly disruption to the public, because works can be completed in less time.
